Antennas, Telephone Recorders & Radio Signal Scanners
When we are outside we must remember that a parabolic antenna with a microphone at its center can capture and amplify what we say at a considerable distance and once again the devices are readily available and cost a little more than $100.00. Outside noise can be a problem with these but on a still, quiet day conversation can be picked up from quite far away.
Suffice it to say that microphones can be a problem for you if the operative really needs to hear what is being said behind closed doors. The expense, the difficulty in placement (possibly breaking and entering) range and power requirements may be a deterrent to the average citizen spying on you, but what about your spouse?
The next aspect of electronic surveillance is another $100 -$200 device that is once again available to anyone at Radio Shack, or from magazine ads. It is to monitor and record your telephone conversations. The longer the record time the more they cost.
This device is simple to use. Some are battery powered and some plug into a household outlet and then plug into the modular telephone jack. When any extension is picked up on that line the device very quietly begins recording both side of the conversation. This device combined with the popular caller I.D. can provide devastating evidence against the unsuspecting parties.
There is another electronic surveillance device that bears mention here because, once again, it is easily obtained and within the
price range of the average citizen. Of course, more sophisticated devices exist for the use of law enforcement and government agencies, but they all do the same thing and that is they can monitor wireless signals. What are they? They are simple scanners. They can be purchased at Radio Shack and they can monitor cordless telephone, aircraft and aircraft control tower, police departments and some of them can monitor government agencies and the military.
Interception of cell phone signals has been deemed off limits, but scanners that have been modified are available for this purpose as well. Simply check those magazine ads and you will find them there.
The next time you use a cordless phone or your cell phone, you may want to be just a little more cautious about what you say and don't forget to warn whomever you are talking with. As I mentioned before there may be legal restrictions to this type of monitoring and if your counter measures provide you with knowledge that this has been done to you, you may be able to take action in a court of law.
There are, of course, more sophisticated methods of listening to phone conversations but they usually require a court order and if you discover that this is the case for you, your problems are way beyond the scope of this website.
