Where To Look
The Stakeout

So let's see how it's done.  The most common surveillance technique is the stakeout. The surveillant has a location where someone or something is supposed to be and simply goes there in a vehicle, picks a spot with a good view, while at the same time not being too conspicuous and simply parks and watches what goes on. It sounds simple and it usually is. There are, of course, a few things that you can do to help with the success of the surveillance, but this is not usually a difficult thing to do.
Let's assume that this is your situation. You've experienced the behavior changes we read about and you're suspicion meter is reading off the scale. You have asked the question, Are you having an affair? The response is, nothing is going on, they just need some time, space, change of boring lifestyle, whatever.
Tonight they are supposed to go from work with co-workers to get a bite to eat and then have a few drinks and maybe take in a movie. Fine, they are not concerned about you and how you will entertain yourself this fine night, so you make your own plans. Your plans now are centered around a combination mobile surveillance and stakeout. Having read this site and after picking up a few basic tools and after, hopefully, having practiced a time or two you are ready.
Since your target knows you and your vehicle it would be ideal to arrange for another one that would not be recognized. This might be the time for a very close, trustworthy friend to render assistance. If they will loan a vehicle or even perhaps come along for the ride this would be ideal. If no friend is involved and you can afford it, a rental car would work as well.  If the vehicle has tinted windows this is perfect. Of course, not all vehicles have dark, tinted windows and certainly rental cars don't come equipped that way. If tinting is not possible, you're still doing all right. If you have to use your own vehicle, do not despair. We still look very good because we're going to be careful, use some good techniques and so far no one knows that a surveillance has been put together, except you. It looks as though tonight is the night.
You have been preparing. You have your surveillance kit. Your cell phone is full charged,  your compact binoculars are on your lap and you've parked a good distance away from their work place where many other cars are parked and your vehicle blends in perfectly.
