The Do It Yourself Detective
Where To Look For A Private Investigator

We'll discuss how to find an investigator and then we'll be done with it.  Probably the best way to hire your investigator would be by recommendation from a friend or an acquaintance or an attorney. Attorney's use investigators regularly and depend on them to find people and information and rely on them to put serious cases together. They know who is good and who is not. Of course, don't discount your friend or next door neighbor if they have had a good investigator. They are out there and they do great work every day.
If you don't know any attorney's and no one you know has ever made the acquaintance of a private detective, you still have a course of action.  Try the yellow pages, available on the Internet or the old fashioned telephone book. Investigators will often times describe the special services they offer and this is a way to choose by simply making a phone call.

What To Look For - A Good P.I.
Hiring a Professional
Where To Look For A P.I.
Most investigators will offer an initial consultation at no cost so you can see if they can help you and if you want to contract with them. Don't be pushed or bullied into doing something that you don't want to do. You might want to consider meeting with more than one detective until you find the one you like best and feel will do the best job.
If you have attempted to do your own search prior to hiring an investigator you can
intelligently discuss everything that you have done so your investigator does not have to repeat your efforts.  This will save time and most importantly money.
Why should you even bother with an investigator if you've tried all that you know to try and failed? Well, the investigator can gain access to information that the general public can not. Many websites exist that require you to be law enforcement, attorneys or licensed private investigators and they will verify who you really are as well as require you to provide documentation to prove it.
As I stated earlier in this work, it was never my intention to make an investigator out of you. Rather, it is my goal to provide you with some options that you can pursue without spending a huge sum of money. There is every reason to believe that you may be successful in your search with professional assistance, but if you do require help, hopefully you'll be better prepared to seek it.
I hope this information has been helpful whether you simply want to learn more about how searches are conducted or you wish to conduct a search yourself.  Whatever your reasons are for reading this, if your need has been met I am grateful, and I wish you well in the future.
